Dubai's outdoor season runs from October 2026 to March 2027, when the heat relents and the city's calendar fills up. The block below covers two dated events for that window. The Dubai Fitness Challenge runs 31 October to 29 November, with free community events across the city, though some require registration in advance. Global Village Season 31 opens on 14 October 2026, and unlike everything else on this page it is a paid seasonal attraction, so budget for a ticket if you go.
Dubai's outdoors cost less than most visitors expect. The public beaches are free to walk onto, Ras Al Khor's flamingo hides charge nothing, and the fountain show outside Dubai Mall needs no ticket. Municipal parks ask only a few dirhams at the gate, so a day of sun, sand and green space can be built almost entirely from free entry.

Free does not mean stranded in Dubai. The Metro runs for a few dirhams a ride, the old abra across Dubai Creek costs AED 2, and park gates ask between AED 3 and AED 5. Budget for those small fares, pair them with the free walks and viewpoints on this site, and the city opens up without a single big ticket.
| What | Free or paid | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Metro and Tram fares | Fares by zone | Nothing in Dubai public transport is free for visitors; fares are charged by zone. Gold card doubles the fare in the Gold cabin. |

| Dubai Metro Blue Line | Not open, under construction | Not free, the line is under construction and not yet open. Under construction, target opening reported as 9 September 2029. |
Yes, they are genuinely free. Every walk on this site runs on a pay-what-you-want basis: you join at no charge and tip the guide at the end if you feel the walk earned it. The 13 walks here, 12 of them on GuruWalk and one on freetour.com, are all run by independent local guides who set their own routes through Old Dubai, Al Fahidi and Downtown.
Booking works through the platform each guide lists on. Twelve walks here appear on GuruWalk: you pick a date and group size on the guide's GuruWalk page and get a confirmation without paying anything up front. The remaining walk, the Old Dubai Walking Tour run by junaid, is a freetour.com listing and books the same way. Nothing is charged until you decide to tip.
Partly. The Burj Khalifa itself costs nothing to look at: the exterior, the surrounding Downtown streets and the Dubai Fountain, watched from the public promenade, are all free, while the observation decks are ticketed. Check show times first. The Dubai Frame, however, sits outside the free list here, so treat it as a paid attraction. A relaxed Downtown walk with Alena covers Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and photo stops at no charge.
The abra across Dubai Creek costs AED 2 per ride, one of the city's genuine bargains, and several walks here include the crossing as part of their route. The Metro is also cheap, running AED 3 to 7.50 depending on distance. Everything else on the pay-what-you-want walks, from the souks to Al Fahidi's lanes, costs nothing to enter with the guide.
Open public beaches charge nothing, and Ras Al Khor's birdwatching hides are free too. Municipality parks ask a small fee, AED 3 to 5, so they are not strictly free. The old districts are the real giveaway: Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, Al Seef and the Coffee Museum all cost nothing to enter, which is why so many walks here cluster around them.
Dubai heat shapes what you carry more than what you wear. Loose, breathable clothing that covers shoulders and knees suits both the climate and local norms, especially around mosques and older districts. Bring water, sunscreen and comfortable shoes: most walks here run two to three hours on foot, and the longest, Muhammed's three-hour souks and abra route, spends much of that outdoors.
